Pope Francis 1
Sincerest congratulations
on being elected Pope.
The first ARGENTINIAN in
this office - Wow!
Now be careful, don't make
any mistakes, and don't be caught
hugging any small boys.
Put your own house in order,
and don't make any more comments
about the U.K. usurping
the Falklands - they're British!

He looks like he will be a good puppet..don't understand politics but you need someone with a friendly face to cover up bad news..
ReplyDeleteHe certainly will be a puppet if he allows crazy politicians to influence his actions.
DeleteBe like the Beatles and "Give peace a chance". So in this case let the Papa have a chance.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't deserve a chance if he doesn't keep his snout out of things that don't concern him.
DeleteGeez Alt I always thought you had a touch of the Romish about you.Hope you're not spending too much time on your knees!
ReplyDeleteStrange comment! There is nothing 'romish' about me, as you would find out if you read through my stuff - quite the reverse in fact. As for kneeling, that is not my style; you are more likely to find me standing under a tree.

DeleteBy the way, why are you Anonymous? What are you scared, or embarrassed about?
DeleteWow, Leigh, bizarre comment above - and frankly, quite rude. Anyway, I loved this. Sound advice. He's a Jesuit, one of the brainiac crowd in the Church; however, he's got a lot of great qualities, including setting an example by eschewing the papal grandeur. Long time coming.
ReplyDeleteReligion is VERY political. For example, the United Church of Christ (descended from Congregationalists among others) is extremely social justice oriented, so we are the "Christian Left." I think the Catholics, much like the Republicans, are trying to "court the Hispanic vote," a la attendance at worship, by selecting an Argentinian. Too bad 90% of the Latinos and other Hispanics I know are already Catholic!
Loved the match with words and subject. Also, thanks for coming by my blog and posting cogent comments! Peace, and don't the the Anonymous types get you down, man. Amy

Thanks dear Amy! I was ever so slightly concerned that I would offend a lot of people with this blog (only ever so slightly!) but once I saw who had become Pope, the words wrote themselves and just had to be published. Keep up your own good work. Leigh.
